Black History Month 2021 Exhibit

This collection is part of the Voices of the Past: A Celebration of Black History exhibit at Metro Parks Centennial Art Center from February 5 to March 25, 2021. The gallery, located at 301 25th Avenue North (in the northeast corner of Centennial Park), is open to the public 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Thursday, with COVID 19 protocols strictly observed. All drawings are available for sale unless indicated.

Naomi Tutu

Naomi Tutu (minister, activist, and Desmond Tutu's daughter, 1960-) - "We are different because the world needs our different gifts" ($120)

Ida B. Wells

Ida B Wells (journalist and activist, 1862-1931) - "Virtue knows no color line, and the chivalry which depends upon complexion of skin and texture of hair can command no honest respect.” (SOLD)

Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou (poet and activist, 1928-2014) (I may redraw this one) - "Determine to live life with flair and laughter." ($120)

John Lewis

Raphael Warnock

Raphael Warnock (Senator and pastor, 1969- ) (it's really a drawing of his mom but the quote is his and I think the combination is powerful) - "As a Black teenager growing up in Waycross GA in the 1950s, my mom used to pick somebody else's cotton.
